Transition Towns is a positive and solutions-focused movement that encourages people in communities around the world to come up with community-based solutions to Climate Chaos and Peak Oil.
From organizing local food groups, to creating local currencies, from building with natural, durable sustainable materials to creating alternative energy collectives, people active with Transition Towns seek to transform fear of our uncertain future into desire for, and action on, change.

The Transition Town Movement sees the inevitable end of the Oil Age as a tremendous opportunity for a profound rethink of how we use resources and how to build a healthier, more connected, self-reliant and interdependent society, one community at a time.
The Transition Town Movement is gaining attention around the world because we are entering times of extraordinarily rapid change. We are moving from a time when our economic and personal success was largely linked to consumption to a time where we realize such levels of consumption are no longer possible or desirable.
Given the imperatives of Peak Oil and Climate chaos it is necessary to urgently design and implement a low carbon, resilient ways of living. As the Transition Town Movement says, “climate chaos makes this imperative, peak oil makes it inevitable and Transition initiatives make it feasible and desirable”.
Indeed Transition Oakville endeavors to create visions of a post-carbon world so enticing, so compelling and attractive that people leap out of bed in the morning looking forward to what they can do next. We hope you will join us on the 29th to learn more about this exciting Transition.
